About the Role

SchoolSafe Kenya is looking for experienced and passionate Fire Safety Trainers to join our growing field team. In this role, you will travel to schools across Kenya — including rural and under-resourced communities — to deliver hands-on fire safety training for teachers, support staff, and students.

You will be a key part of our mission: ensuring that every child and educator in Kenya knows what to do in a fire emergency, how to use safety equipment, and how to support an orderly, life-saving evacuation.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver engaging, practical fire safety and emergency preparedness training sessions at primary and secondary schools across Kenya
  • Train teachers and support staff on fire extinguisher use, evacuation procedures, and emergency response roles
  • Facilitate age-appropriate safety drills and awareness sessions for students
  • Conduct basic fire risk walkthroughs and document key observations for the SafetyAudit team
  • Install and explain fire safety signage and equipment during sponsored school deployments
  • Work with school leadership to embed safety culture and reinforce ongoing preparedness
  • Submit post-visit reports and feedback to the SchoolSafe Kenya operations team

What We Are Looking For

  • A background in fire safety, occupational health & safety, emergency services, or a related field
  • Experience delivering training or instruction in a professional or community setting
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills — you are comfortable in front of a classroom of children and adults alike
  • Willingness to travel across counties, including rural and peri-urban areas
  • A genuine passion for community safety and child welfare
  • Proficiency in English and Swahili; additional local languages are an added advantage
  • A valid driving licence is preferred

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and field allowances
  • A meaningful role with direct, visible impact on children's safety across Kenya
  • Ongoing professional development and safety certification support
  • A collaborative, mission-driven team environment
  • Opportunities to grow with a fast-expanding organisation
